World Generation and the Galaxy MapEach time you start a new world the game procedurally generates a unique galaxy map. The galaxy map consists of approximately 10,000 sectors arranged in a grid. Each colored square on the map to the right is a sector. The coloration of the sector squares denotes the content and difficulty of those sectors. Difficulty also scales with distance from the center of the galaxy, as you move further away from the center the level of NPCs increases as does their technology tier. The player is not trapped in this map and can wander into the void outside this galaxy. The player can also move their character from world to world using the selection screen at the start of the game. Currently you can have up to 5 worlds saved at a time.

Sector Contents
Sectors are also procedurally generated with only a few that are pre-generated such as sector [0,0]. The difficulty of NPCs in a sector on average increases with its distance is away from the center of the galaxy at [0,0]. Sectors contain a variety of celestial objects such as asteroids, planets, suns, stations, NPCs, nebula, anomalies, black holes, and wormholes. Sector details on the map will become more visible if you zoom in using the mouse wheel when the map window is active. Some NPC and space stations only spawn in specific sector types. The availability of resources also changes as the the difficulty of the sector increases. Rare resources are found in the outer sectors while more common resources are found in safer interior regions.

Wormholes and Black Holes
Wormholes are permanent objects in the galaxy and usually link distance places together. Most wormholes you come across are closed meaning the other end has yet to appear. When you traverse a new wormhole the other end will be generated. The more wormholes you explore the more paths you will open up. Black holes behave much the same way as wormholes however they will damage your ship and throw you into a random location without anyway back if you try to traverse them. To traverse a wormhole sit your ship on top of one of these objects and a traversal countdown will begin. Wormhole links are typically on opposite ends of the galaxies center meaning they jump you to a region of space of similar difficulty on the other end of the galaxy.

Space StationsSpace stations owned by NPCs will provide services such as item trade, item storage, skill training, and missions. Station type and location determines what goods will be available to buy and sell in the trade menu. Currently NPC stations are classified as either military, industrial, science, or capital based. Military stations buy and sells offensive and defensive ship systems such as armor and weapons. Industrial stations buy and sell industrial tools, raw materials, and asteroid ores. Science stations buy and sell exotic goods and technologies. Capital stations often provide core systems for ships such as drives, reactors, and often sell many ship hulls. The player can also make stations buy purchasing station kits. Player owned stations provide item storage, processing, and protection against hostiles. Player owned stations are very vulnerable to attack until you install gear in them. It is recommended to lay drones around player owned stations to shore up defenses.
